A good memory from flying with Asiana Airlines

A Major Shift in South Korean Aviation

It’s official: Korean Air and Asiana Airlines are merging. As a result, overlapping routes between the two airlines are gradually being phased out, with new bookings suspended on certain flights. For example, Asiana recently announced that it will stop accepting reservations for its Fukuoka–Seoul route starting November.

A Blow to Star Alliance Fans Using Incheon as a Hub

For frequent flyers who’ve been collecting miles with Star Alliance, this news stings. Incheon International Airport is one of Asia’s major air travel hubs, and Asiana has long been a solid Star Alliance member with routes spanning across Asia, North America, and Europe.

Many savvy travelers chose Asiana to rack up miles on Star Alliance while enjoying reasonable fares and convenient layovers in Incheon. The merger could drastically reduce those options.

And let’s not forget those unexpectedly cheap flights you’d sometimes find on Asiana via Incheon—those quirky, budget-friendly gems may soon become a thing of the past.

Why the Asiana Lounge at Incheon Was a Favorite

There are two ways to access Asiana’s business class lounge at Incheon:

  • By flying business class with Asiana

  • By holding a Priority Pass and flying with Asiana

I’ve experienced the lounge in both situations, and I have to say—it’s one of the best. Spacious, spotless, and genuinely relaxing, it always felt like the perfect place to unwind before a flight.

Business Class Dining: Surprisingly Good

Asiana’s business class inflight meals are seriously impressive. I’d rank them just behind the top-tier Middle Eastern airlines like Qatar or Emirates in terms of flavor and presentation.

Yes, the Bulgogi Is Amazing

As expected from a Korean airline, the bulgogi was rich and flavorful—one of the best I’ve had in the sky.

Dessert Wine and Cheese, Anyone?

Just when I thought it couldn’t get better, dessert wine and a selection of cheeses were served before the final dessert. It’s that perfect blend of Korean comfort food and elegant international touches that made Asiana’s business class feel truly special.

A Personal Goodbye to Asiana Airlines

From business trips to solo getaways to family vacations, I’ve flown with Asiana countless times. It’s bittersweet to see the brand disappear.

But until the full merger is complete, there’s still time to enjoy one last flight—or a few more. I plan to make the most of it while I still can.
